Can yous donate claret if you have UC?
I was diagnosed 2 years ago and have donated claret without thinking near information technology. Is this bad? Is this ok?

I donate blood, in the bath every mean solar day. Up top! ::high v:: ::sobbing::
I've tried to donate a few times years ago but my blood pressure is always high when I am stuck somewhere away from bathroom, so they told me I couldn't.

It depends upon which mediation(s) you take. Check with your chemist or doctor.

Nope. They don't want diseased blood.

I was told no for 2 reasons:
-The medications
-The risk of bringing anaemia back

I program to try again presently simply I know last time I couldn't because of low iron. I am planning to try once more soon.

UK/England here. Got told flat out no for UC past the donation helpline even earlier we got to meds.

In most Us states the blood-red cross will plough you lot down considering of the meds and considering we are chronically ill, its easier on our bodies to not lose any more than claret than nosotros already do.

Blood bank told me "no" with any autoimmune disease, non because they are worried about me passing anything on, but because they are worried FOR me. I don't donate well really. My body but tin can't handle the stupor and no amount of crackers and OJ can annul that fact. I tried several times before I was officially diagnosed really and I got sick as a dog every time. I'k talking sick and shivering, and just ILL. My 1 doc she says she'due south non surprised at all given how my blood counts tend to work. I take several autoimmune diseases. I can get very anemic very fast. Sometimes my platelet counts they can get very weird. My dr., she's surprised I wasn't diagnosed a whole lot before in my life because of stuff like that. There were signs fifty-fifty in my late teens that something was just not right. But they didn't catch any of it till after I was 35. Information technology's a shame I can't donate actually. I take a very rare claret type and stores are usually low, but it's simply not worth the agony. Been at that place, washed that, and UGH about covers information technology.

I'm in Canada and I donate and have for years - but I'chiliad also not on meds and haven't had symptoms in a decade and a one-half. I had to take something done to allow me to donate (can't call up the specifics, only I had to wait a few months before getting canonical, no tests were done that I remember though), simply it was but a filibuster.

Are you sure you disclosed your UC. I was told that you should not donate with IBD, even if in remission. (In Canada)

You tin get fake positives for Hep C considering of the damage to your liver. In one case yous get one yous accept to explain to the screener every time why. Also, there'south gonna come a time when yous need all the blood you make for yourself.

I honestly always thought no because of the biologics but I've never had anyone tell me no. My dr. said he didn't recommend it because of my history of anemia only that was only when I had a really inflamed small bowel and wasn't absorbing iron and I haven't been bloodless in over 10 years. I haven't donated recently though.

I give blood to the porcelain goddess numerous times per day, I don't think I take any extra for the Red Cross :p
On a serious notation, I've asked unlike medical staff if I'm immune to give blood and have received yes and no answers... so I simply don't carp anymore. I probably wouldn't want blood from someone who has been on the number of biologics and other meds that I've tried.
